Let\u2019s discuss the importance and symbolism of the number 5 in Hebrew. The word is Hamesh, and looks like this:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u05d7\u05de\u05e9<\/span><\/p>\n

The number 5 symbolizes the idea of saving, to be saved, or to be rescued. Starting with the middle letter Mem, \u05de<\/span> , which represents the world. It is God that saves or rescues us from the world as we repent, follow, and keep His commandments.<\/span><\/p>\n

On either side of the world, or Mem, are two Hebrew letters that both represent our final destination or goal in being saved. <\/span><\/p>\n

The Chet, \u05d7<\/span>, is life, or eternal life, and often this character is a symbol for the Holy of Holies, or the Celestial Kingdom, which is the only place to enjoy and receive eternal life.<\/span><\/p>\n

The other letter, Shin, \u05e9<\/span>, is the eternal flame or burning bush, or even better, the tree of life, which all represent Jesus Christ, or again eternal life with Christ.<\/span><\/p>\n

Therefore, the number 5 is a powerful reminder that God will save us from the world. Notice that the world is in the middle surrounded by the symbols of eternal life and our returning to the presence of the Lord. Despite feeling surrounded by evil and entrapped in our sinful lives, if we will turn to Him, repent of our sins and obey, he will save us.<\/span><\/p>\n
