Giddianhi, the leader of the Gadianton Robbers, has just written a very nasty letter to Lachoneus saying they are going to wipe out all the Nephites.<a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.reliefsocietywomen.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/lachoneus1.png?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-11784\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.reliefsocietywomen.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/lachoneus1.png?resize=300%2C158&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"158\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.reliefsocietywomen.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/lachoneus1.png?resize=300%2C158&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.reliefsocietywomen.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/lachoneus1.png?resize=1024%2C538&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.reliefsocietywomen.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/lachoneus1.png?resize=768%2C403&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.reliefsocietywomen.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/lachoneus1.png?w=1200&amp;ssl=1 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: 14pt;\">As our prophets have told us, we are living parallel lives to the Book of Mormon. There are warnings and instructions in this most magnificent book all over its pages. So, what instruction do we get from this chapter?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Starting in verse 13, it tells us they are told to <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">gather together<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> everything but their land, build <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">fortifications<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, set <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">guards<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> both day and night, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">repent<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">cry<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> unto the Lord. The Nephites jumped into action and did all they were asked to do to be prepared. They gathered in the center, unified and prepared, and waited upon the Lord to fight their battle. Their activities were completely unified, obedient, humble, and prepared.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: 14pt;\">This may sound weird, but this made me think of Relief Society activities for the coming year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: 14pt;\">Our prophets have been rather bold about directing us these last several years, if we will have ears to hear. They are calling us to repentance, warning us of dangers, pleading for us to be unified in peace, obedience, and love.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: 14pt;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.reliefsocietywomen.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/mormon-women-temple.png?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-11785\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.reliefsocietywomen.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/mormon-women-temple.png?resize=300%2C239&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"239\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.reliefsocietywomen.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/mormon-women-temple.png?resize=300%2C239&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.reliefsocietywomen.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/mormon-women-temple.png?resize=1024%2C816&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.reliefsocietywomen.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/mormon-women-temple.png?resize=768%2C612&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.reliefsocietywomen.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/mormon-women-temple.png?resize=1536%2C1225&amp;ssl=1 1536w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.reliefsocietywomen.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/mormon-women-temple.png?w=1944&amp;ssl=1 1944w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>What can the women of this church do to follow the prophets? And what have the prophets asked us to do?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: 14pt;\">This year, during conference, I\u2019ve listed a few directions we\u2019ve been given:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: 14pt;\">Make Easter a bigger celebration than Christmas<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: 14pt;\">Access God\u2019s power through covenants<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: 14pt;\">Daily repentance<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: 14pt;\">Teach children to have faith and make righteous choices<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: 14pt;\">Turn to Jesus Christ for relief and peace<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: 14pt;\">The answer is always Jesus Christ<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: 14pt;\">Don\u2019t be the weak link in your family<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: 14pt;\">Be obedient in all things, including paying your tithing, then trust upon the Lord<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: 14pt;\">The most sacred responsibility is helping your children come unto the Lord<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: 14pt;\">Stay on the covenant path<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: 14pt;\">Guide precious children back to heaven<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: 14pt;\">Love is spoken here in our homes, activities, ministering, and service<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: 14pt;\">Think Celestial!<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: 14pt;\">According to the Handbook, sisters are to use our Relief Society activities to \u201cstrengthen faith, build unity, strengthen families and homes, and make plans to assist God in His work of salvation and exaltation (9.2.1.2).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: 14pt;\">The Activities section has changed drastically over the years. The only specifications are:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: 14pt;\">Activities may be planned<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: 14pt;\">Activities are meant to strengthen sisters and give them opportunities to serve<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: 14pt;\">Activities can be held anytime, except Sundays and Monday evenings<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: 14pt;\">That\u2019s it! No other guidelines than those. It is up to each Relief Society presidency to prayerfully look at the needs of her sisters, match them up to the wisdom and warnings of our prophets, and gather each sister in.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: 14pt;\">With the new year upon us, I invite presidencies to break tradition and follow the spirit. Follow the Nephites, who were righteous at this time, only they failed and were destroyed. That won\u2019t happen to us. Lachoneus was given great counsel from the Lord. Unify; gather in the center all of your loved ones; support one another; follow the prophet; repent; prepare with knowledge, testimony, and warfare; be humble; and trust in the Lord.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: 14pt;\">The Lord is on His way, sisters. Time ran out for the Nephites.
