{"id":12030,"date":"2025-04-22T08:28:21","date_gmt":"2025-04-22T14:28:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.reliefsocietywomen.com\/blog\/?p=12030"},"modified":"2025-04-21T11:33:45","modified_gmt":"2025-04-21T17:33:45","slug":"christ-our-savior","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.reliefsocietywomen.com\/blog\/2025\/04\/22\/christ-our-savior\/","title":{"rendered":"Christ, Our Savior"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is a<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/difficultrun.nathanielgivens.com\/2015\/12\/22\/the-general-conference-odyssey\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> General Conference Odyssey<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> post for the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.churchofjesuschrist.org\/study\/general-conference\/2009\/04?lang=eng\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sunday morning session of General Conference.<\/span><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">In the church, we are taught that there are no coincidences. God is all knowing and provides generously for each one of us. It\u2019s not surprising that this week, while covering this particular session of conference, we are able to pick one of the greatest sermons on Jesus Christ.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Elder Holland is everyone\u2019s favorite apostle. Okay, maybe I generalize, and maybe<a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.reliefsocietywomen.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/church_jesus_christ_highfidelity_symbol.png?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-11272\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.reliefsocietywomen.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/church_jesus_christ_highfidelity_symbol.png?resize=166%2C300&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"166\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.reliefsocietywomen.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/church_jesus_christ_highfidelity_symbol.png?resize=166%2C300&amp;ssl=1 166w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.reliefsocietywomen.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/church_jesus_christ_highfidelity_symbol.png?resize=566%2C1024&amp;ssl=1 566w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.reliefsocietywomen.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/church_jesus_christ_highfidelity_symbol.png?w=640&amp;ssl=1 640w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 166px) 100vw, 166px\" \/><\/a> that\u2019s not completely true for everyone, but I think all of us tear up just a little when he extoles His unwavering belief in our Living Christ. His testimony is an emotional tidal wave and we are the beneficiaries.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In his talk, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.churchofjesuschrist.org\/study\/general-conference\/2009\/04\/none-were-with-him?lang=eng\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">None Were With Him<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, we are carefully walked through the final hours of our Savior and it is an emotional journey. Similarly, as members of this church, we were invited to take an emotional journey throughout all of Holy Week.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The church released several bold media posts.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Our apostles posted several posts as well.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">In fact, my Facebook feed was flooded with the good news of Christ\u2019s resurrection.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">There were several videos available online, from both the New Testament and the Book of Mormon, about what Jesus taught.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">Each day of Holy Week there were several options and opportunities to read, watch, ponder, and worship our Redeemer.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">The timeline of this mortal earth is coming to an end. Everything that happens is inevitable. Sin will be glorified. Satan will tear everything down. Hearts will fail those on <a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.reliefsocietywomen.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/christ-jesus.jpeg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-8382\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.reliefsocietywomen.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/christ-jesus.jpeg?resize=275%2C183&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"275\" height=\"183\" \/><\/a>shaky ground. All the sons and daughters of God will use their agency. But, will we use it to choose our Savior, Jesus Christ? It\u2019s not too late. Wouldn\u2019t it be terrible if we failed now, so close to the end? As Elder Holland lovingly stated:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 14pt;\">\u201cMay we declare ourselves to be more fully disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, not in word only and not only in the flush of comfortable times but in deed and in courage and in faith, including when the path is lonely and when our cross is difficult to bear.\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is a General Conference Odyssey post for the Sunday morning session of General Conference.
