{"id":1646,"date":"2010-01-06T18:47:44","date_gmt":"2010-01-07T00:47:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ldswomenofgod.com\/blog\/?p=1646"},"modified":"2012-04-20T16:51:54","modified_gmt":"2012-04-20T22:51:54","slug":"the-twelfth-rs-meeting-13th-14th","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.reliefsocietywomen.com\/blog\/2010\/01\/06\/the-twelfth-rs-meeting-13th-14th\/","title":{"rendered":"The Twelfth RS Meeting, 13th, &#038; 14th"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Twelfth Meeting<\/strong> was held in the Grove on Jun 23, 1842.\u00a0 Previously, Joseph Smith had given the Relief Society a place to build a house for the poor, so with that purpose, the women went to work.\u00a0 The first item discussed in this meeting was a collection of funds \u201cfor the purpose of preparing the house in contemplation for the poor.\u201d\u00a0 Those applying for aid needed a recommend from the Bishop.<\/p>\n<p>Counselor Cleveland said, \u201cAll must live by faith alone\u201d.\u00a0 Counselor Whitney encouraged the sisters \u201cto look for long life to do good.\u201d\u00a0 Mrs. President rejoiced in seeing union among the sisters.\u00a0 Mrs. Chase stood up and said, \u201cIf the sisters are faithful, the gifts of the gospel shall be with us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Eliza\u2019s writings just cover the surface of what is discussed, so we miss what is really happening in the sisters\u2019 lives.\u00a0 I guess there was a letter that went out complaining about the society, but the women insisted all you needed was faith and to not fear anyone but the Lord.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Thirteenth Meeting<\/strong> was held on July 7<sup>th<\/sup>, 1842, in the Grove.\u00a0 Mrs. President wasn\u2019t in attendance, so the women spent the time in exhortation, speaking, singing and prayer.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Fourteenth Meeting<\/strong> was an interesting meeting.\u00a0 Held in the Grove, on July 14, 1842, certain sisters were called up and voted on whether they should be allowed membership or not.\u00a0 If there was a problem, the sister was rejected from admittance.<\/p>\n<p>A Sis.
