Do you feel involved in your Relief Society?\u00a0 Do you feel more loyalty to your calling?\u00a0 Do you feel like you belong to the organization of your calling, because a) you have no direct contact with your Relief Society, b) you feel more accepted and loved by those you are serving with, c) you have no connection with the \u201cold lady group\u201d?<\/p>\n
Why is it that we only pay attention to the things that we are directly involved with?\u00a0 Because that is where we feel responsible, we feel appreciated and needed, we feel accepted and united.\u00a0 As a member of the Relief Society, it doesn\u2019t matter what calling you have, you are still a member of this organization.\u00a0 Originally, the Relief Society was over Young Women and Primary.\u00a0 There was unity amongst all, because everyone helped, worked together, and shared the responsibility together.<\/p>\n
Chances are, the only ones who really know what\u2019s going on in Relief Society is the presidency.\u00a0 If they are organized, they may share a plan with their sisters and encourage involvement in that plan.\u00a0 If they are planning, from week to week, as they go, it\u2019s difficult to get everyone on the same page, especially those who are not in attendance, serving in other organizations, or feeling neglected.<\/p>\n
I would urge presidencies to plan ahead of time and make a real effort to \u201cget the word out\u201d, so ALL can join in the work of the Relief Society.\u00a0 I would also urge every sister to either ask what\u2019s going on, or offer to head up an area of interest.\u00a0 Get your friends together and plan to involve as many sisters as you can, in particular, the sisters that get looked over.<\/p>\n
If you don\u2019t interact with any of your sisters during the week, outside of Sunday, something is wrong with your Relief Society.\u00a0 There isn\u2019t enough reaching out and involvement.\u00a0 There isn\u2019t enough visiting going on.\u00a0 There isn\u2019t enough desire to get involved.\u00a0 There isn\u2019t enough need, love, or unity.<\/p>\n
