Beck:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fulfilling the Purpose of Relief Society, Nov 2008<\/li>\n<li>Focusing on the Lord\u2019s Work of Salvation, Mar 2009<\/li>\n<li>Relief Society: A Sacred Work, Nov 2009<\/li>\n<li>Studying the Work of Relief Society, Jan 2010<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I believe she is pulling us into a new direction of procedure, in accomplishing our purposes.\u00a0 Through personal revelation, she wants us to figure out how to move forward within our own wards.\u00a0 The following suggestion will help you coordinate goals, activities, meetings, and unity.<\/p>\n<p>Here it is:<\/p>\n<p>1)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Decide, with your Bishop, ONE goal you feel your ward needs to focus on.<\/p>\n<p>a)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Make it measurable and short term (something you can see results in two months time)<\/p>\n<p>b)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Attach a doctrine to this goal<\/p>\n<p>2)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Use the Fast Sunday Presidency Lesson<\/p>\n<p>a)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Do not prepare a lesson<\/p>\n<p>b)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Instead, introduce the goal and doctrine \u00a0(keep it short and strong)<\/p>\n<p>c)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Open up discussion so sisters can suggest meetings and activities that will help complete the goal.\u00a0 Realistically plan TOGETHER what everyone is willing to do for the goal, write it on the board, ask for a commitment of involvement, and use as many of their ideas, gifts, and talents as you can.\u00a0 End this part of the meeting with something concrete the sisters can go home and practice, or look forward to, during the coming month as they unify to meet the goal (whether as a group of sisters or individually)<\/p>\n<p>d)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Use the remainder of the time for testimonies by starting with your own<\/p>\n<p>3)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 During the month, talk about the goal<\/p>\n<p>a)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Encourage the sisters to discuss the goal amongst themselves, at home, and in all meetings<\/p>\n<p>b)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Implement the ideas that were discussed together through additional meetings, activities, and challenges, that will help the sisters fulfill the goal<\/p>\n<p>c)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Encourage RS teachers to incorporate discussion of the goal in the lessons they teach<\/p>\n<p>d)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Use emails, or a newsletter, to share quotes, encouragement, reminders, as needed<\/p>\n<p>4)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Fast Sunday Presidency Lesson (2<sup>nd<\/sup> Month\u2014It\u2019s important that counselors get to show unity and solidarity in this goal as they, in turn, conduct)<\/p>\n<p>a)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Do not prepare a lesson, again.\u00a0 Restate doctrine of goal<\/p>\n<p>b)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Open up a discussion where sisters can share personal experiences, suggestions, etc.\u00a0 Keep things focused on the goal, and positive.\u00a0 If someone is struggling, listen, love, support, as sisters, and offer hope<\/p>\n<p>c)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Discuss other meetings and activities (or repeat as needed) to have during the next month<\/p>\n<p>d)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Testify of the value of achieving this goal.\u00a0 Encourage your sisters to express their feelings and testimony of how the goal is affecting their lives personally.\u00a0 This is a great place to share the joys of achievement and fulfillment<\/p>\n<p>5)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Continue encouraging sisters throughout the month with reminders, sharing, activities, etc.<\/p>\n<p>6)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Fast Sunday Presidency Lesson (3<sup>rd<\/sup> Month\u2014build on your unity as a presidency)<\/p>\n<p>a)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Do not prepare a lesson, again.\u00a0 Discuss the blessings and promises of the goal<\/p>\n<p>b)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Share results of the goal.\u00a0 Evaluate how the goal was accomplished, together, as sisters<\/p>\n<p>c)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Testify to one another<\/p>\n<p>d)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Suggest another goal if you wish and start all over again, using each Fast Sunday to plan, teach, unify, and evaluate with one another<\/p>\n<p>e)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Invite the Bishopric to see your accomplishment so they can receive feedback from the sisters<\/p>\n<p>In your analysis:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Did the sisters cooperate long enough to actually arrive at the goal?<\/li>\n<li>If it didn\u2019t work, what opinions did you see or hear?<\/li>\n<li>If it did work, did everyone get involved, or was it just the same few active sisters that typically jump in?\u00a0 What efforts were made to involve everyone (including Primary and YW workers)?<\/li>\n<li>Was the Bishop interested and supportive of what you were doing?<\/li>\n<li>Did you witness an increase in sister involvement, communication, love, and unity?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Well, there it is.\u00a0 Just for the sake of example, here are some goals you may want to pursue.\u00a0 Remember, your goals should come as a result of discussions with the Bishop.\u00a0 Sis. Beck suggests we consider\u00a0 Faith,\u00a0 Family,\u00a0 and Service\u00a0 as areas of focus.\u00a0 If you really start thinking, you will come up with hundreds of worthy goals. \u00a0\u00a0Evaluating the success of the goal is the most important thing in this challenge.\u00a0 These are big goals with various focal points that could be either separated into smaller goals or divided up into manageable parts, tackled in step ladder fashion.\u00a0 Be sure to set a measurable goal with a deadline, so you can see your accomplishments, and be energized.<\/p>\n<p>1)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Have regular FHE, Family Scripture Reading, Family Prayer, and Family Council<\/p>\n<p>a)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Make FHE job charts together, share lesson ideas, and activities<\/p>\n<p>b)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Facilitate various groups to get together for unique family situations<\/p>\n<p>c)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Ask the Primary children and Youth to come into Relief Society meeting and share what their family is doing<\/p>\n<p>2)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Complete 100% Visiting Teaching<\/p>\n<p>a)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 No guilt trips allowed!<\/p>\n<p>b)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Your objective is to have the entire ward sit down with every adult member of the ward to evaluate how needs can be fulfilled, and report, so appropriate love can be ministered<\/p>\n<p>The Presidency should go out and visit.\u00a0 Form a welcoming committee to visit new<span id=\"_marker\"> sisters.\u00a0 Follow up with a sound reporting system.\u00a0 Visiting Teaching is all about consistent love, concern, and service.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 10pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Calibri;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I am inviting Relief Society Presidents to take on the following challenge.\u00a0 I just want to see if it would work.\u00a0 Is anyone game?\u00a0 If you are\u2026you just need a two-month block of time to see it through.\u00a0 Please get back to me with your results.
