Today, my husband and I celebrated our 28th Wedding Anniversary.\u00a0 The whole day was spent walking down memory lane through BYU campus, (kissing in front of the dormitory we got engaged at), driving around to the various apartments we lived in, looking for familiarity of the old days.\u00a0 Sadly, there are no more Navajo Tacos at the Cougar Eat.\u00a0 And no more Grasshoppers at the Bowling Alley, (but they do have a Volcano that was a pretty good replacement).\u00a0 Things have definitely changed, and continue to do so.\u00a0 I never thought I would get to the age of \u201clooking back at the old days\u201d, but here I am.<\/p>\n
As we reminisced about our life together, we remembered our innocence and dreams for the future.\u00a0 We thought we knew a lot back then and maybe we knew a few things, but we could never second guess the path we ended up taking.\u00a0 What if we had never met, what if I had not accepted his proposal, what if we had made other decisions\u2026where would our lives have taken us?\u00a0 The \u201cwhat ifs\u201d are more frightening now than anything we could have imagined for our future back then.<\/p>\n
Life can\u2019t be second guessed; \u00a0life can\u2019t be feared.\u00a0 Life must be lived, and it is best to live it boldly.\u00a0 Stephen asked me if I felt I had lived a happy life so far.\u00a0 I had to think about it.\u00a0 My answer was, \u201cNot as happy as I should have felt.\u00a0 \u00a0I have had a good life in spite of its ups and downs.\u00a0 Sometimes I haven\u2019t let myself be as happy as I should have felt.\u00a0 My limited vision sometimes distorted what could have still passed for happiness.\u00a0 Attitude is a very big deal when it comes to life.<\/p>\n
I\u2019ve seen what anger and regret can do to a person.\u00a0 It makes them old before their time.\u00a0 It makes them unpleasant company.\u00a0 They are unhappy and a dark cloud literally follows them around.\u00a0 Life was never meant to be easy, but we were still meant to find the joy in it.
