Just make it interesting reading.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">However, a good essay involves these skills:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Mental Organization<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Psychological Freedom<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Rhetoric<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Critical Thinking<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">That first paragraph needs to be written in such a way to grab the reader. The following paragraphs need to be engaging, interesting, and exciting. This can be accomplished by the words used, not necessarily the story or subject matter, so take your time and choose carefully.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">When writing your essay, be aware of the point of view.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>First person:<\/strong> Typically, this person tells his own story.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Third person:<\/strong>\u00a0 The author tells us about all actions, and characters, from the outside looking in.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">You must also decide if you wish to write in the past tense or present tense. A good writer gives the right amount of solid, important information, then develops it with anecdote and description.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Robert Frost said, \u201cNouns and verbs are pure metal; adjectives and adverbs are cheaper ore&#8230;Death toll the adjective!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Sheridan Baker said, \u201cResolve not to use the passive voice. Simply fly in the face of convention and begin your sentences with \u201cI\u201d or \u201cwe\u201d or \u201cthe writer\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Challenge:<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Pick one memory and write an essay about it.
