font-family: Calibri;\">She was born in Scotland in the year 1742.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>She received a good education, which was unusual for the time.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Her husband was a physician with the Army who was assigned to Canada, where their children were born.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>He was soon transferred to Antigua.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>They lived there a short time when her husband suddenly died of a fever in 1774.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>She was left with three small children in a foreign land.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>She decided to go back to Scotland.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>As she was returning to Scotland, her vessel shipwrecked in a storm.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>She prayed all night as she held onto her babies, and finally floated onto shore.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>While she was away, her father lost everything.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>It was a hardship to find a place to live and set up a teaching position immediately after her arrival, but there were friends who were willing to help her.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>She cared for her father until his death.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>It was always her desire to return to America; she knew \u201cthat America was the country where the church of Christ would eventually flourish\u201d and she wanted her children to benefit from this.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>She finally arrived in New York in 1789.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Arrangements were made immediately to start a school for higher branches of female education which she would open up, one of the first of its kind. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 10pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">Isabella is best known for being the founder of a Female Relief Society, again, one of the first of its kind.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>It was for the relief of poor widows with small children.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 10pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Calibri;\">On Isabella\u2019s deathbed, in 1814, she said, \u201cI have no more doubt of going to my Saviour, than if I were already in his arms: my guilt is all transferred; he has cancelled all I owed. <span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0<\/span>Yet I could weep for sins against so good a God.\u201d<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>(You\u2019ll notice her death date precedes the First Vision)<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 10pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;
