{"id":9116,"date":"2017-08-30T12:26:17","date_gmt":"2017-08-30T18:26:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ldswomenofgod.com\/?p=9116"},"modified":"2017-08-30T19:39:50","modified_gmt":"2017-08-31T01:39:50","slug":"september-visiting-teaching-one-heart","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.reliefsocietywomen.com\/blog\/2017\/08\/30\/september-visiting-teaching-one-heart\/","title":{"rendered":"September Visiting Teaching: Of One Heart"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lds.org\/ensign\/2017\/09\/of-one-heart?lang=eng\">Visiting<em> Teaching Message<\/em><\/a><\/h3>\n<p>The world would say they are fighting for this very idea&#8211;to be of one heart, but somehow they think they can achieve it without Jesus Christ, and that would be impossible.\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Along with this idea, everyone demands that race, gender, and ideology be fairly treated, even specially treated to the point that everyone has a voice. The problem is everyone does have a voice and they are yelling and screaming so much that no one is listening to the heart anymore. This results in complete chaos.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.ldswomenofgod.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/girls.png\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-9122\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.ldswomenofgod.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/girls-300x199.png?resize=300%2C199\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.reliefsocietywomen.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/girls.png?resize=300%2C199&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.reliefsocietywomen.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/girls.png?w=451&amp;ssl=1 451w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Lord\u2019s way is quite different. In 3 Nephi, Jesus Christ explains that \u201cthe Father, and the Son, and the Holy Ghost are one\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lds.org\/scriptures\/bofm\/3-ne\/11.27\">(3 Ne. 11:27)<\/a>, and to become one like Them we must all be baptized. Then He states that \u201cthere shall be no disputations among you \u2026 neither shall there be disputations among you concerning the points of my doctrine\u201d (vs. 28). Arguing with one another, as well as fighting over things that happen in church are NOT His doctrine.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Simply put, the doctrine of Jesus Christ is \u201cto repent and believe in me. And whoso believeth in me and is baptized, the same shall be saved; and they are they who shall inherit the kingdom of God\u201d (vs. 32-33).<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Following Jesus Christ is the ONLY way we can become ONE. Any other counterfeit way will not work for any extended period of time. Jesus Christ is our Lord and Master and all things are made right before Him.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I found an interesting verse that I\u2019ve never noticed before, found in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lds.org\/scriptures\/bofm\/3-ne\/29.8?lang=eng\">3 Ne. 29:8<\/a>. It says,<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cYea, and ye need not any longer hiss, nor spurn, nor make game of the Jews, nor any of the remnant of the house of Israel.\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.ldswomenofgod.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Relief-Society-sisters-in-class.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-9123\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.ldswomenofgod.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Relief-Society-sisters-in-class-300x148.jpg?resize=300%2C148\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"148\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.reliefsocietywomen.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Relief-Society-sisters-in-class.jpg?resize=300%2C148&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.reliefsocietywomen.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Relief-Society-sisters-in-class.jpg?w=620&amp;ssl=1 620w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Interestingly, racism is not His doctrine. We are ALL part of the house of Israel, which makes us ALL brothers and sisters in the household of God. If our purpose is to become like Him, to follow Him, to obey Him, to be with Him, then we will ALL be accepted by Him and invited into His fold. And isn\u2019t that a wonderful thing!<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I just wanted to mention the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lds.org\/church\/news\/church-announces-come-follow-me-for-melchizedek-priesthood-and-relief-society?cid=HP_FR_25-8-2017_dCN_fMNWS_xLIDyL1-C_&amp;lang=eng\">new 2018 RS curriculum<\/a> here. We will be studying more closely General Conference addresses, as well as topics our General Authorities would like to emphasize. (You may enjoy reading my weekly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/groups\/generalconferenceodyssey\/?ref=bookmarks\">General Conference Odyssey<\/a> posts). Some church programs are going through a major overhaul in terms of teaching skills. No longer do we want to be or see a teacher that stands and reads a lesson to us, or follows the lesson as exactly written. <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The church wants each person in attendance to feel like a valued participator. Likely, all of us have experienced moments when a comment is made that makes us feel connected to one another. When we relate to one another, our capacity to love and feel united grows. This feeling is needed during our Sundays. And hopefully, will stretch between us throughout the week.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The purpose of these new guidelines is explained on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lds.org\/manual\/come-follow-me\/frequently-asked-questions?lang=eng\">Come, Follow Me<\/a> website:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cGod has organized His covenant sons and daughters into priesthood quorums and Relief Societies to help accomplish His work. Something powerful happens when we gather under the direction of those holding priesthood keys. So while gospel instruction is <a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.ldswomenofgod.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/grandmother-and-granddaughter-2.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-9125\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.ldswomenofgod.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/grandmother-and-granddaughter-2-300x229.jpg?resize=300%2C229\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"229\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.reliefsocietywomen.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/grandmother-and-granddaughter-2.jpg?resize=300%2C229&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.reliefsocietywomen.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/grandmother-and-granddaughter-2.jpg?w=365&amp;ssl=1 365w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>important, Sunday priesthood and Relief Society meetings are more than classes. They are also working meetings where we learn together from general conference messages, counsel about the work of salvation, and organize to accomplish the work. The changes coming in 2018 will help us fulfill these purposes.\u201d<\/span><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The \u201csomething powerful\u201d that happens is the unity we feel with one another as we become of one heart. When we are all committed to building the kingdom of God, our hearts are more open toward one another. When we create a \u201csafe place\u201d we are more likely to ask for help when we are feeling weak, and more willing to help when we have been strengthened. This bonding will unite our powers of righteousness which is sorely needed in the world we live in today.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I would like to offer a challenge to your visiting teaching experience: Find a way to connect with your sisters.
