Unrighteous Dominion

Can I just say a word about unrighteous dominion?  This is probably the biggest problem women have against men. Forever ago, men decided since they were bigger and stronger than women they assumed they were smarter than them too.  All of that kind of went with the same male dominating territory.  They have lorded that privilege over women ever since.   And let’s be fair, I am fully aware there are some women out there who are bullies too.

Question:  How many men (and women) can handle power?  I would guess roughly 1-2%.  This is out of every one who has been born on this planet.  There is no manual on the subject.  There are not that many fine examples to look up to.  I have never met one personally who could handle power without considerable humility.

Worldly power has given men the go ahead to mess things up.  With Priesthood power, you would think men could handle things a little more carefully and judiciously.  Not so.  Physical and mental abuse is just about as prevalent in the church as it is out of the church.

I don’t mean to bash men.   Men are pretty straightforward; duty is their motivation.  If they’re told to do something by someone higher up, they are very likely to follow through.  Women have a tough time positioning themselves “higher up”, or on equal ground, thus, teamwork is difficult to achieve.

Women not only have equal intelligence to men, the bonus of compassion and empathy often make women powerhouses.    I love that idea:  Righteous women powerhouses.  I think we should all call ourselves that instead of “sister”, what do you think?  Of course we have to say it humbly.

The same problems of power exist for women.   Female bosses have a bad reputation.  It’s not usually seen as readily though, because of the common position she finds herself in.  But those placed “under” women have certainly suffered: children.

We must always remember that the gospel is perfect.  The principle of men being the bearers of the Priesthood and the women being the bearers of children is a perfect system designed by Heavenly Father.  What mortal man has done with this principle, with a lot of help from Satan, has turned us against each other.

It is God’s desire that we work as a perfectly oiled machine, each doing our part, working together, following His precepts, living His high and holy standards, in order to preach the gospel to the world and return His children to His presence.  We can’t do that if we are bickering and trying to outsmart one another.

Satan can’t get enough of his mayhem; he attacks below the belt; no rules to follow, all taboos brushed aside.  Satan’s temporary power has become the world’s power.  We are his puppets, both men and women, his toys.

Men and women are not perfect.  We must each rely on the Lord to achieve that.  Repentance is a gift from God to help us; it gives us the ability to forgive, and ultimately it perfects us.  Let’s take away Satan’s power and find a way to work together with love, long-suffering, and hope for a bright tomorrow.  Man and woman, husband and wife, are not the enemy.  They are equal partners who must work together, and with the Lord’s help, overcome Satan’s world.
