What Are Women’s and Gender Rights?

There is a ferocious fight over women’s, as well as gender, rights. How did we get here?

This post is intended for a Latter-day Saint audience.

Our religion teaches us the value of God’s children. We have a Plan of Happiness that motivates us to live by certain commandments and covenants that can bring happiness to our lives today, but more importantly, bring us eternal happiness.

Why is there such a fire-storm against people trying to live by a moral code? Haven’t the scriptures warned us enough of what happens when we ignore that moral code?

It didn’t take long on this earth for people to become so wicked they all needed to be drowned in the great flood. Do we understand what the resultant rainbow even means?

Jehovah was devastated that He had to destroy His people, but He was left with no choice. Rather, those wicked people were stopped, for their own good, from carrying their perpetual sins into further generations.

God made a covenant with Noah:

“This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations: I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth. … and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh” (Genesis 9:9-15).

The JST further explains:

“And this is mine everlasting covenant, that when thy posterity shall embrace the truth, and look upward, then shall Zion [the city of Enoch] look downward, and all the heavens shall shake with gladness, and the earth shall tremble with joy” (JST, Gen. 9:21-25).

The rainbow is the token, or symbol, of maintaining a “perpetual generation” with the everlasting covenant, which is eternal marriage. In other words, children are to be taught the gospel of Jesus Christ, so that generations may know Him.

It still amazes me how predictable Satan is with his counterfeits. How he likes to take something holy and basically prostitute it.

Why is there so much venom in our society, especially from those who advocate peace and love? Why are those who desire to hold onto morals shamed and persecuted? What are women’s and gender rights when they prevent people, who desire to live moral lives, from living their lives in peace?
